Its time for another Etsy Beadweavers Challenge!  I can’t believe it – this is the second one this year I’ve managed to take part in.  And my bracelet is the very first of the entries below!  Its not the most complex, but it certainly was fun working on it.  Take a look at the link at the end to see a larger version of each of the entries and to vote for your favorite.
Just as a reminder, I’m part of the Etsy Beadweavers Team and we have monthly challenges.  This month, the theme was “Blue.”

THE CHALLENGE RULES

Any EBW member may create one new beadweaving of your own design (not from a tutorial, kit, book, magazine, or class) in response to the challenge theme. Your work should be entirely beadwoven, or have a substantially woven component, to feature and promote our art form. You may not renew an existing piece, or list a tutorial or made-to-order item as an entry.

Choose your favorite “Am I Blue?” entry by clicking the link below. Voting will occur through March 15th, 2014.

Sorry, most of my beads and kits are not included in this sale (there’s a couple of big hole beads on sale though – all one of a kind!) If you’d like them, then there are a few at regular price online or you can stop by BeadSoup in Savage Maryland for my trunk show. She still has plenty of my work!

The first half of this month has been nothing but getting ready for Bead & Button and working on my Battle of the Beadsmith piece.  I’ll show you what I’ve made in the next newsletter!

I’ve been making kits like mad and driving Karen crazy because I can’t answer any of her questions about what I’ll be bringing to the Milwaukee show – you’ll just have to drop by and see!

At the end of this month Gahanna Bead Studio is hosting a sidewalk sale – look for a section of my clearance, and close-out items.  Help me clean out my stock!  I also have some not-made-by-me beading items in there.

Well, I’m about to start yanking items from my Etsy Store as I pack them to head to Bead & Button.  I still have my newest beads, some clearance items and some brand new kits so check them out, there’s still time to ship before I pack!  Check out the new dragons, dragon head cabs/beads and eye cabs/beads.

Last chance to preregister for my classes! http://search.beadandbuttonshowstore.com/beadandbuttonshow/default.aspx?mode=search&ins=T293

Happy beading!

One of the most famous stories in Scheherazade’s 1001 Nights is about Aladdin and the Genie. I designed this piece years ago, and even constructed most of it. It went to a show, where it was promptly dropped on a flagstone floor by the curators. About a zillion little pieces were returned to me, and disgusted by their lack of an apology, I threw it all into a box for over a dozen years.
When Luba, winner of the February Etsy Beadweavers Challenge, suggested “Shades of Scheherazade” as the theme of this month’s challenge (April 2013), I decided it was time to find the pieces of this project and either rework it or toss the whole thing. Hours later, I think I successfully have captured a Persian garden within the fabulous architecture of ancient Persia that has inspired so much dance and art but since the piece is a rework, I haven’t added it to the challenge.

Updated – Etsy!  AGAIN!

I’ve added even more to the Beads and Kits sections!  Check them out – I’m getting ready for the Rocky Mountain Bead Society show, so get ’em before the show!

Also, Etsy rolled a new instant downloads option.  If you didn’t catch this in my last newsletter, this means that when you purchase a tutorial, you’ll get a link to automatically download your tutorial to your computer.  Yippee!

Also check the artisan focal beads, beaded jewelry, and euro-style big hole beads sections for some crazy clearance prices.

I could have sworn that I had posted about the last Mini Bead Fest for my Etsy team, the Etsy Bead Embroidery Guild, but I can’t seem to find it in my postings.  Bad on me.

The current challenge is “Emerald,” which is the Pantone Color of the year.

Here’s what our team Leader, Connie, says about the mini fests:

“We will have a Mini Fest every 6 weeks, starting in Jan 2013. EBEG will announce
the dates a week beforehand- the whole idea is to have more exposure on our blog
and more visibility on Etsy.

You will bead embroider any of the smaller items in the jewelry range, being it
hair barrettes, brooches, earrings, pendants, rings. You may do up to three (3)
items during each 6 weekly period, we will put everything in a collage as well
so it can be posted on FB, Blog. This is a fun Fests. The price cap on each
individual item will be $150.

We will not have a theme as such, but a color will be chosen for each Mini Fest,
and that color must then make up the larger portion of your item. You may use
only one other color with the main color, or as many colors as you would like to
use, as long as the main color is represented in at least 60% of your item. When
all the pics are put together in a collage, the main color will carry through
the whole collage.”

Ready to see them all?  Mine is the big one…

Wanna see an even larger photo of mine?  Head over to https://www.etsy.com/listing/127256448/hannah-rosner-english-garden-pendant?ref=shop_home_active

To see larger photos of any of the rest of them, go to Etsy and put in EBEG Mini Fest as a search item.  It will show you the pieces from our current mini fest and also our previous one (which was “white.”)
