I’ll be teaching at Caravan Beads Chicago on June 7&8 and at Briolette Beads & More in Forest Park on June 10. There’s still a little bit of room in my classes! CARAVAN BEADS CHICAGO CLASSES

Pick Your Peyote (Bracelet). Beginning or Intermediate levels. Beginners will learn peyote stitch, while intermediate level students will learn “fast peyote,” which does two rows at a time. Then, choose your pattern, pick your delicas and come back to class to learn to read a peyote graph and start your project. Photography for the Web. If you are planning on ever selling online, then you’ll find photography is the key ingredient. Make it easy on yourself! Students should feel free to bring their digital camera and a small craft item to photograph. It doesn’t have to be jewelry! This class will be held on June 8. To register, call them. 708-366-8318


TLD DESIGN CENTER & GALLERY CLASS

We have added in a hothead florals class at TLD Design Center & Gallery on Monday, June from 6-9 pm. We’ll be doing some sculptural florals with soft glass. We’re doin’ it all on a hothead! An Advanced Lampwork Class for students who are interested in creating florals. Freehand work will be discussed as well as the subtle color shading that makes organic work so beautiful. Demos of leaves and petals and a murrine cane for centers. We’ll be working directly into a kiln during this sculptural class. Students will pick their project when they come to class &will have time to shop for beads. If you never done peyote stitch before, you’ll learn basic peyote and how to read a flat peyote graph. Ladies of the early 17th century Japanese Imperial Court challenged each other to contests to determine whose embroidered Temari was the most intricate and opulent. Ball patterns developed one from another or were embroidered in the traditional Japanese Embroidery techniques. I will be teaching three separate techniques for the New Mexico Bead Society in July. They are all intermediate level classes based off of peyote stitch. Again, I should have a full trunk show running while I’m teaching of my patterns, tutorials and beads, but we haven’t discussed the details of this yet!

Classes are for Bead Society Members only, unless there are chairs available last minute. Consider joining. Its super cheap, class registration is subsidized, and there are free classes held during the winter.

Royal Ruffles Bracelet. July 24, 2010: 9am-12 noon. July 24, 2010: 1pm-4pm This bracelet is much easier to make than it looks, but how does it DO that?Project will not be completed in class, however all techniques will be learned,including finishing options.

Mine is made from seed beads, and also resembles an Ancient Islamic Folded Glass bead I recently found for sale. Students should be able to complete this project in class.

Taos Sunset Necklace. Details coming soon for July 16th. This class will have some “prehomework.”
